“What starts here changes the world”…

In this piece I’m not referring to my blog but what I’m talking about is what we choose to do, what I’m talking about is in the lines, and the words ahead.

You know how they say “everything happens for a reason”? Well, last night I was combing through YouTube while sat on a bench not long before midnight in a park not far from where I live, not looking for anything in particular; but there was a certain video that flashed before me. Now, as a person one of my interests is Special Operations Forces (SOF), and the biggest forces that interest me in this unique group are the United States Navy SEALS. Since having started studying them in depth in 2014 my interest in them has grown, the biggest thing that has got me most is not the operations they have been involved in, nor the missions, or the battles, though of course what I am about to go into is linked, it is their mindset that has got me the most; they have the strongest and most important mindsets that I have ever read about and followed and to accomplish what they do, throughout their training at BUD/S to their graduation in their careers as Navy SEALS (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (Sea Air and Land)) – they are simply the best of the best.

So anyway, I looked at the length of the video I’m about to watch last night (19mins) and think that no way am I going to sit for nineteen minutes and watch this speech but then something in my gut struck a match and told me to watch it and so I did and the advice that followed was incredible, as he is about to start he assures everyone that his words are for everyone, whether they have served a day in uniform or not. Some of what was said in the speech I have read in a book that was given to me as a gift by my sister, not only to help me in my growth as a person (because we all have problems, those problems just vary from person to person, individual to individual) but also to help me understand what makes this elite group of warriors tick, entitled “Navy SEAL Mental Toughness: A Guide To Developing An Unbeatable Mind” by Lars Draeger and can be bought on Amazon UK for £8.99 and Amazon US for $11.59. As a self help book it is probably the best book I have read, and even in the opening pages it states that it is for everyone, serviceman and civilian alike.

Anyway, the video was so good I sent it on to my sister who watched it several times but was originally like me about the length. The advice is good, for us all and I’d like to share it with you all.

Thank you, I hope you enjoy the advice as much as I did…
